Do the "worker bees" work the weekends?

Everyday I wake up ( at 2-3pm b/c I work night shift in the ER) and all I want to do is drive to see the progress... especially this early in the game because I do not want to miss anything! My question is if they even build on the weekends or not?? It is about a 15-20 min drive one way from where we are living now, to our new home.. and I guess it would be worth knowing if there is any point in going today. I have not gone out there since my last post... so I will go today just for fun heheh :)

  1. Hi Sarah:

Yes, the tradesmen often work on weekends and holidays, Sundays included. We found that they particularly worked weekends during the framing and exterior construction portions. I think that now most of the work is inside, they are keeping more traditional hours. In addition to working weekends, they often work very late into the evenings - sometimes until 8 or later. You won't find a more dedicated crew anywhere, and I for one have certainly appreciated them. Especially when they were out there working 16 hour days in the 100 degree heat.

  2. Not mine. I have yet to see them on the weekends...or holidays...or past 3pm....or at all for that matter. Probably why we broke ground almost a month ago and still haven't started framing. :/ BUT we are in FL so ours may be a bit different. Everything is slow down here.

  3. They do here. Not really on Sundays, but on Saturdays they do.

  4. Yes, they have worked on our house several times on the weekend. I was shocked a few times, because I wanted to go in and look around but couldn't because they were working...

  5. Our sales rep says that weekends are part of the plan. It is one reason that they complete homes in 70-90 days. Our framing guys worked on July 3rd and 4th...a Sunday and Holiday Monday. This weekend the drywall guys were in there working on taping and mudding. There has been something done just about every weekend.

  6. Well, if they were there today, we missed them.. which is understandable as we went late afternoon and I my husband says they are waiting for things to settle a little more and letting the concrete dry. But, to my surprise when we pulled up a bunch of 10-11 yr old kids were playing on our house.. and one of the basement windows got broken! They pointed it out to us and were like "it was another kid who left already, not us!!" Needless to say, we understand kids are going to be kids, but the window will need to be replaced.
